Okay, I know the site is exploding, but I am working on getting it back to normal. Unfortunately, I have to go to work in a few minutes so I'll make this quick.
GO FISH ON SALE NOW! :D
Keep in mind the quality issues are my own fault, not Lulu's. The original pages were all saved in 72 dpi (ARGH) and I wasn't about to go back and redo all 112 pages. It's expensive so don't feel like you need an excuse to NOT buy it. I totally understand.
BUT IT'S AVAILABLE! That's more than I could've said a year ago!
If you do spend your cash on it, please give me some feedback. Obviously not about quality as, when the next issues get into books, the quality will get better in time.
Thanks!
BTW: PNGs are fun! Wheeeeee!!

Congrats on getting your comic in print ^^ You seem like you're feeling a bit better from the tone of your post, which is a good thing! ^^
I like the way the site looks now too! It's really cool. ^^
I hope the site is showing up well on your monitor. It looks TERRIBLE here at work and I don't know how to fix it. I pray people reading GF are not using busted-ass CRTs...
Yeah I am feeling better, it's pretty awesome. I guess I needed a break. Funny thing is I don't feel like I'm having much of one as I am busting out at least five pages of issue 14 a night (THANKS, PSI...). Still it would be nice to get back to updating, amirite?
You're welcome ;)
Great to hear you're feeling better! And congratulations on releasing the book, and if I had any money (or, better yet, a credit card or any other way to purchase anything online) I would totally buy myself a copy.
The new site design is sleek and the background very cool, but maybe center the content?
(and to explain the lobsters of a post-past, I just survived one hell of a week and my mind is kind of mangled up right now. On a plus, all of the work ends this Wednesday, so I get Thursday through Sunday to work on my submission for the contest)
The content is centered on this monitor (work), but it changes resolution on my monitor at home. IE will be the death of all my CSS learnin's...On my monitor, using Firefox, the content is off to the left and smaller and the PNG images don't have this nasty white background. If anyone else is seeing this, I'm very sorry, but I can't fix what is wrong with CRT monitors and IE.
Not all of it I can blame on IE. I have been beating the hell out of my coding for almost a week so there's bound to be some open tags and piss-poor coding laying around. Most of the time I just adjust until it looks good on my monitor. Then I get to work and it looks TERRIBLE (although centered...).
ANYSHIT THE SITE WORKS SO WHATEVER...
Right. I'll see what this weekend lays out for me in terms of time but maybe I can get some of the next page done. I forget who it is dedicated to, my dA page not being open, but it should be pretty grand.
Just if you were wondering, on my computer: Firefox and Lunascape are smaller and left-based, but more organized looking; IE is indeed out of resolution and everything kind of does its own thing - but still left aligned. I get no colour-related problems, though - but colour issues would be due to that specific monitor/computer's native settings, though, so there isn't much you would be able to do about them (besides somehow convincing everyone to conform to your recommended settings).
Your "About" page is broken, by the way. I laughed at the redirect page.
I love my 404 page and everyone else should too! A couple of links don't work and I don't know why I didn't mention it (I'm dumb). I'm working on those pages. Now that I've got the main site where I want it (despite others' resolution and browser fubars) I'm going to use this week to COMPLETE the whole site. No broken links, updated Links page, About, Contact...everything. I'm actually even getting BLOOD its own ComicGenesis page (hopefully) so it won't be such a clusterfuck.
As for updates on that comic...ehhh...soonish? I've been sketching issue 14 like a mofo. Maybe I can distract myself with Tezca's sexy/scary ways.
Did I ever mention how much I love communicating with readers? I love it.
*Cue reader silence*
=P
Ever consider mirroring your comic on crappier webcomic hosts like smackjeeves or drunkduck? That'd probably raise up your reader count a good amount and you can spam links all over your mirrors to get new readers to come to this website (like, just post the latest issue, or the first few, and simply say "for more, come hither"... Except not in half-Shakespearean English).
(On a funny note, I just noticed the only thing centered on the site is the advertisement at the top)
Fucking ads...
I don't really want to spam other sites because that means I have to bullshit with MORE websites and I don't need that.
I really just want to do more link trades, but big time webcomic artists are all pissy about who they trade with nowadays. And I don't have anything against newer comics, they just don't come to ME for link trades.
I'm kind of this angry little island in a sea of people ignoring me, hahaha.
Updates would be nice, but don't do it until you feel ready ^^ You gotta remember, while you might love your readers and they love reading your work, you have to take care of YOU first. -nods-
But I need to learn that lesson too about stuff in my life >.>
On a related note! I use firefox and it is more left aligned, but I don't mind it. Makes things different! Especially when you're used to seeing things centered on the screen, when it's off to the left (even if it's temporary) it kinda makes you think to find it -laughs-
Oh, and people ignoring you = not cool.
Well...get used to the left alignment. I'm running into coding issues trying to get it more centered. Actually I like the way the background and side links take up the empty space (sort of) on the right. When I try to center the comic page, it seems to disagree with the right side of the page and everything goes ASDFDSDGH. So it will be to the left for now.
I've tempted, even implemented, the idea of having the new page be a click away like some other comics do. Where you need to be redirected to read. However that means changing the coding EVERY TIME I update and that was something I hated. It's also a little annoying for me, as a reader, to open a website and have to then go to yet another address. I appreciate comics that have the new page right there in front of you.
But I am open to ideas for formatting. As long as I can code them, I can attempt to build them.
I super-duper love the layout for "The Less Than Epic Adventures of TJ and Amal". I think it's stunning and well-done, but it would probably render me a jibbering nut (moreso)to try and do that with what little knowledge I have.
Hey, like I said, I kinda like it ^^ And so long as you aren't babbling TOTAL nonsense, I'm sure everything will be fine coding wise for ya ^^
I agree with M-A in that I kind of like the new layout, it just mildly annoys me that the comic image is right up against the left side of the screen (maybe just set up a border and call it a day?). And, while coding, remember: Google is your best friend. Can't tell you how many times I've had to Google something while programming.
On a side note, I am starting my contest entry as of typing this post... but, with my short attention span, it may take-shiny thing!
I've got WW3 on speed-dial and my professor from college on facebook if I need questions. Also there was this giant-ass HTML book for free at work that I yoinked.
Haha, wow, you come prepared, huh.
Soo, in the... three... days now that I've been working on the comic page, I've produced two rough sketches... And that's about it.
Any specific fonts you want in the pages? (for legal reasons, or o.c.d, or whatever?)
No, that's the whole point of the contest. Redo a page the way you want it.
