Just fucking around with colors is a lot of fun.
Work puts a lot of pressure on drawing, I've noticed. Last night I was at work and just praying to go home early so I could work on maybe three images I was just inspired to do. I actually had an artgasm at work sketching one out so I wouldn't forget it (those are weird, if you've ever had one).
But as soon as I get home, it's like the buzz is gone. All I did was check my email and then played a game until bedtime. The people around me make me want to draw and it seems like once they are gone, there's no reason to.
GAH.
Anyway, sometimes it comes naturally, other times it's hard to get anything out.
hahahaha...innuendo.
EDIT: Thinking back to that pre-caffeine babble, it's just like at college. There were always people around and always a reason to draw. People would say "oh my God that's such a great idea, draw that!" and I'd have the clipboard right there and it would be done. They won't let me draw at work anymore, even when we're down, unless I'm on break. The breaks are so far apart that the flames have died before I get to my book.
ANYway, the next page marks another leap in GF. Page 400! I'm putting a lot of effort into it. That doesn't mean a lot of time. Sometimes I just won't work on a page, but due to the content of the next one (that probably nobody will really care about), I'm working very hard each day to make sure it's just right.
Also...is anyone even still around to do a contest? I was over in the forums and I don't think it's worth my time or money, or yours. People tend to promise me entries and then never had them in and so the winner is usually a default only-submitter. It's not you guys, I know my comic doesn't draw a lot of attention, but why should I spend $50 when I can save it for Mexico?
